Description

This Artisanal Cajun Turkey Sandwich is a gourmet lunch upgrade that combines smoky, spiced turkey with crispy bacon and zesty remoulade on perfectly toasted sourdough. It is a hearty, flavor-packed meal that brings cafe-quality quality to your kitchen in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 thick slices sourdough bread (about 1 inch thick)
  • 6 oz Cajun-style deli turkey, thinly sliced
  • 3 strips thick-cut bacon
  • 3 thick slices red tomato
  • 45 dill pickle chips
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Cajun Mayo Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cajun Mayo: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Cajun seasoning, and lemon juice until smooth and orange. Set aside.
  2. Crisp the Bacon: Place bacon in a cold skillet over medium heat. Cook until very crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Toast the Sourdough: Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. In a pan over medium heat, toast buttered-side down for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  4. Warm the Turkey: Briefly toss turkey slices in the warm pan for 30 seconds to release the spices and juices.
  5. Build the Base: Spread a generous layer of Cajun mayo on the toasted side of both bread slices.
  6. Layer and Garnish: Pile folded turkey on the bottom slice, followed by crispy bacon, tomato slices, and pickles. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  7. Serve: Top with the second slice of sourdough, press gently, and slice diagonally with a serrated knife.

Notes

Fold the turkey meat rather than laying it flat to create air pockets for a lighter texture. Use a serrated knife to cut the sandwich to prevent squashing the artisanal bread. For a spicy kick, add extra jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the mayo.
