Description

This easy cherry cobbler features a golden, buttery topping over a sweet and tangy cherry filling. Whether you’re using fresh, frozen, or canned cherries, it’s a go-to dessert that’s simple, quick, and packed with homemade comfort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cherries (fresh or frozen, pitted)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for filling)

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar (for topping)

  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¾ cup milk

  • ½ cup butter, melted

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a bowl, toss cherries with ½ cup sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla. Pour into the dish.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix flour, ⅓ cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until smooth.
Step 4: Spoon the batter over the cherry mixture. It’s okay if some fruit peeks through.
Step 5: Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden and cherries are bubbling.
Step 6: Let cool 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use canned cherries—just drain them first.

  • Add almond extract for a twist.

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

  • Letting the cobbler cool helps the filling set.
