Description

These Strawberry Cheesecake Sweet Rolls are soft, sweet, and swirled with a creamy cheesecake filling and homemade strawberry compote. They’re the perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or dessert—simple enough for beginners and indulgent enough to impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Dough:
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Cheesecake Filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Strawberry Filling:
  • 1 ½ cups chopped strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water
  • Glaze (Optional):
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix and knead until smooth. Let rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour or until doubled.
  2. Prepare Strawberry Filling: In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until juicy. Stir in cornstarch-water mix and cook until thickened. Cool completely.
  3. Make Cheesecake Filling: Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Set aside.
  4. Roll and Fill: Roll out risen dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle. Spread cheesecake mixture, then top with cooled strawberry filling.
  5. Shape and Rise: Roll dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 rolls. Place in greased baking dish. Cover and rise for 30–45 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden. Let cool slightly.
  7. Glaze: Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

To make ahead, assemble the rolls the night before and refrigerate. Let them come to room temperature in the morning before baking. You can use frozen strawberries if fresh are out of season.
