Description

These Parmesan and Spinach Cheese Twists are the ultimate flaky, cheesy snack. Made with buttery puff pastry, fresh spinach, and plenty of Parmesan, they’re quick to make and perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or a cozy snack. Ready in under 30 minutes, they’re crisp on the outside, cheesy on the inside, and irresistibly good.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped (or frozen, thawed, and squeezed dry)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning, or chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Lightly flour your work surface. Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick. Keep it cold for best results.
  2. Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix chopped spinach, Parmesan, mozzarella, and seasonings. Stir until well combined.
  3. Assemble: Brush the pastry lightly with beaten egg. Spread the spinach-cheese mixture evenly over half the pastry. Fold the other half over the filling to cover it.
  4. Cut and Twist: Slice into 1/2–1-inch strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. Twist each strip gently and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the twists with the remaining egg wash. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For best texture, serve fresh from the oven. To make ahead, assemble the twists and freeze before baking. Bake straight from frozen, adding 2–3 minutes to the cook time. Try swapping Parmesan for Pecorino or adding pesto for extra flavor.
