Description

This Italian Stromboli Stuffed Bread is a golden-baked roll filled with layers of savory meats, gooey cheese, and zesty marinara, all wrapped in soft pizza dough. Perfect for a quick dinner, party appetizer, or make-ahead lunch—it’s the ultimate comfort food, packed with flavor and ready in under an hour.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 68 slices Genoa salami
  • 68 slices deli ham
  • 68 slices pepperoni
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: sautéed spinach, roasted peppers, olives, grated Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll pizza dough into a 10×14-inch rectangle.
  3. Spread the sauce: Evenly spread marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  4. Layer the fillings: Add provolone slices, salami, ham, pepperoni, and mozzarella. Sprinkle with oregano and garlic powder.
  5. Roll it up: Carefully roll the dough into a tight log starting from the long side. Seal the seam and tuck the ends underneath.
  6. Apply egg wash: Place seam-side down on the baking sheet. Brush with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Cool and slice: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing into pinwheel-style servings.

Notes

For extra crunch, sprinkle Parmesan cheese or sesame seeds on top before baking. To make ahead, assemble and refrigerate for up to 6 hours before baking. Let come to room temperature before placing in the oven.
