Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup granulated sugar

- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
- 24 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Make the Dough Base: In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar and oil until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until a thick dough forms. The dough will resemble brownie batter.
- Chill: Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes so it firms up and becomes easy to roll.
- Shape Cookies: Roll the dough into 1-tablespoon balls. Coat each ball generously in powdered sugar.
- Bake: Place dough balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Add the Blossom: Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each warm cookie. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
- Serve: Allow the chocolate kiss to set fully, or enjoy warm for a softer center.
Notes
Be sure to chill the dough so the cookies hold their shape. Coat the dough balls very well in powdered sugar for dramatic crinkles. Swap chocolate kisses for peppermint, caramel, or peanut butter versions for fun variations.
