Description

These Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Slices are soft, moist, and packed with gooey chocolate chips and crunchy walnuts. It’s a comforting, bakery-style treat that’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. With just one bowl and simple ingredients, this recipe is a crowd-pleaser every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (or coconut oil)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas. Add eggs, melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  4. Fold in Extras: Gently fold in chocolate chips and nuts, saving some to sprinkle on top.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Top with remaining chocolate chips and nuts. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs.
  6. Cool and Slice: Let cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture. Don’t overmix the batter to keep the bread soft. Store slices in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or freeze individually for longer storage. To reheat, warm in the microwave for 15 seconds for that fresh-out-of-the-oven feel.
