Description

This Cheesy Chicken Poutine with Crispy Fries is the ultimate comfort food classic. Golden, crispy fries are topped with juicy seasoned chicken, melty cheese, and rich, warm gravy. Easy to make at home and perfect for cozy dinners, game nights, or anytime you crave something hearty and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes, cut into thick fries (or frozen fries for convenience)
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (vegetable or canola)
  • 2 chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups cheese curds or shredded mozzarella
  • 2 cups brown gravy (homemade or store-bought)
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries: Wash and cut potatoes into thick fries. Pat dry well. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer and fry in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes until golden and fully cooked. Set aside.
  3. Heat the Gravy: Prepare gravy according to package instructions or your homemade recipe. Keep warm over low heat.
  4. Assemble the Poutine: Place hot fries on a serving plate. Top with cooked chicken and cheese curds or shredded cheese.
  5. Add the Gravy: Pour warm gravy evenly over the fries, chicken, and cheese. Serve immediately while hot and melty.

Notes

For extra crispy fries, fry them twice or use an air fryer. Always assemble poutine just before serving to keep the fries from getting soggy. You can adjust the amount of gravy based on preference, but avoid overpouring.
