Description

These Blue Cheese and Pear Tartlets are a sweet and savory bite-sized appetizer made with warm pears, creamy blue cheese, and flaky pastry. They look elegant but take only minutes to prepare, making them perfect for holidays, parties, or any time you want a quick gourmet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed (or 1518 store-bought phyllo tart shells)
  • 2 ripe pears, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pastry: If using puff pastry, cut the sheet into small squares and press each piece into a mini muffin tin. If using phyllo tart shells, place them on a baking sheet.
  2. Cook the Pears: In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced pears, honey, and salt. Cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Stir in lemon juice and remove from heat.
  3. Mix the Cheese Filling: In a bowl, combine the blue cheese, cream cheese, black pepper, and a small drizzle of honey. Mash until creamy and smooth.
  4. Assemble: Add a small spoonful of the cheese mixture into each pastry cup. Top with a spoonful of the warm pear mixture. Sprinkle nuts on top if using.
  5. Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the cheese is warm.
  6. Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle lightly with honey before serving if desired.

Notes

For a stronger flavor, add extra blue cheese. For a milder flavor, swap the blue cheese with goat cheese. Tartlets are best served warm and can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
