Description

These Banana Cream Puffs Dessert treats are light, fluffy, and filled with fresh bananas and homemade whipped cream. The golden choux pastry shells are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, making the perfect base for a creamy, sweet filling. This dessert looks fancy but is very easy to make, and it is great for parties, holidays, or special family treats.

Ingredients

Scale
    • For the Choux Pastry:
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 4 large eggs

    • For the Filling:
    • 2 cups heavy cream
    • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 3–4 ripe bananas, sliced

  • Optional Toppings:
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Powdered sugar
  • Chocolate pieces or shavings

Instructions

  1. Make the Choux Pastry: Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a saucepan, heat water, butter, and salt until it comes to a boil. Add flour all at once and stir until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides. Remove from heat and let cool for several minutes.
  2. Add the Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time until the dough becomes smooth and glossy. Pipe or spoon small rounds onto a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  3. Bake: Bake for 10 minutes at 425°F, then reduce the temperature to 350°F and bake for another 15 minutes or until puffed and golden. Cool completely before filling.
  4. Make the Whipped Cream: In a large bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and vanilla and continue whipping until thick and fluffy.
  5. Prepare the Bananas: Slice bananas into even rounds. Set aside.
  6. Fill the Cream Puffs: Slice the cooled puffs in half. Add a generous amount of whipped cream to the bottom half, layer banana slices on top, and place the top half back on.
  7. Add Toppings: Drizzle with chocolate sauce and dust with powdered sugar. Add chocolate pieces around the plate for extra decoration.

Notes

For best results, fill the cream puffs right before serving so the pastry stays crisp. You can bake the shells a day ahead and store them in an airtight container. Bananas taste best when sliced fresh. If you want them to stay bright, brush lightly with lemon juice.
