Description

These homemade Greek yogurt bagels are soft, chewy, and incredibly easy to make — no yeast, no boiling, and only two main ingredients! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a healthy snack, they come together in under an hour and can be customized with your favorite toppings like sesame, cheese, or everything bagel seasoning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (thick, unsweetened)
  • 1 cup self-rising flour (or 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1½ tsp baking powder + ¼ tsp salt)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, shredded cheese, or cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Stir with a spoon until crumbly, then knead gently with your hands until smooth and soft. Add a little more flour if the dough feels sticky.
  3. Shape the Bagels: Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each into a 6-inch rope and shape into a ring. Press the ends together to seal.
  4. Apply the Egg Wash: Whisk the egg and brush over each bagel. Sprinkle with your chosen toppings.
  5. Bake: Place bagels on the baking sheet and bake for 22–25 minutes, or until golden brown. For a crispier finish, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy plain, toasted, or topped with cream cheese, butter, or your favorite spread.

Notes

Use thick Greek yogurt, not regular yogurt, for the best texture. Avoid over-kneading the dough. For extra flavor, mix herbs, cheese, or cinnamon sugar into the dough. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
